What happens
beneath the skin
Daxxify relaxes the muscles that create expression lines. Like other neuromodulators, it temporarily quiets the signal from nerve to muscle, so the treated muscle rests and the skin above it softens. Its peptide-based formulation is what makes it distinctive among wrinkle relaxers.
A small dose, carefully placed
Daxxify is injected in units directly into the muscle that creates the line. Placement is where the artistry lies: a few millimeters can shape how the brow sits and moves.
The nerve signal pauses
Daxxify temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine, the messenger that tells the muscle to contract. The effect is gradual and fully temporary, and the signal returns in time.
The muscle rests, the skin softens
With the muscle at rest, the skin above it is no longer creased hundreds of times a day. Existing lines soften and new ones are less likely to deepen.
Movement gradually returns
Over about six months, and up to nine for some patients, the body forms new nerve terminals and movement returns. Consistent treatment often means fewer units over time.

Many patients choose it for its peptide-based formulation and longer duration, a median of about 6 months in studies. Daxxify, Botox and Dysport all relax the muscle that folds the skin into a line. Daxxify differs in its peptide stabilizer and, in studies, its longer duration. Filler and Sculptra restore lost volume, which makes them a lovely complement rather than an alternative.

How to prep & what to do after
Book at least three weeks before any event. Daxxify takes about two weeks to reach full effect, which leaves time for your review before the date.
- If medically appropriate and cleared by your physician, pause blood thinners, NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours to help reduce bruising.
- Please share every medication and supplement you take, along with any neuromuscular condition, as some interact with botulinum toxin.
- Arrive with a clean face if you can. If not, we'll gently cleanse the areas for you.
- Have something to eat beforehand. It helps you feel comfortable and steady during treatment.
- Please let us know if you're pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. We'll wait to treat you until the timing is right.

What is Daxxify?+
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is a purified botulinum toxin type A neuromodulator, injected in small units to temporarily relax the muscles that create expression lines. It's FDA-approved for frown lines and is known for a peptide-based formulation associated with a longer duration of effect.
How long does Daxxify last?+
In clinical studies the median duration was about 6 months, and some patients kept their results for up to 9 months, compared with the 3 to 4 months typical of other wrinkle relaxers.
How long does Daxxify take to work?+
Daxxify works quickly. Many people notice softening within 1 to 2 days, some by the next day, with full effect at about two weeks. We'll assess your result together at two weeks.

Most patients describe a brief pinch. The needle is very fine and each injection takes a second or two. Topical numbing or ice is available if you'd like it, though most people find they're comfortable without it.
Can I have Daxxify and filler at the same appointment?+
Yes, and many patients do. We plan both at your consultation and sequence them within one visit when it makes clinical sense.

Will Daxxify make me look frozen?+
Our goal is a soft, natural result. A frozen look comes from over-treating a muscle group or overlooking the muscles that balance it. We treat your expression as something to preserve, which often means fewer units than patients expect, and we can always add a little at your two-week review.
What is the difference between Daxxify and filler?+
Daxxify relaxes muscle and softens lines caused by movement. Filler adds volume and treats hollowing or lines that remain when your face is completely still. Many patients benefit from a little of both, and understanding which is behind each line is a key part of your assessment.
Daxxify, Botox or Dysport — which is better?+
All are botulinum toxin type A. Daxxify has a peptide-based formulation and, in studies, a longer median duration of about 6 months compared with roughly 3 to 4 months for the others, along with a faster onset of 1 to 2 days. The right choice depends on the area treated and how long you'd like results to last, and we'll guide you at your consultation.

Can Daxxify treat jaw clenching or TMJ?+
Yes. Relaxing the masseter muscle can ease clenching, grinding, jaw tension and morning headaches, and it gently slims a heavy or square lower face as a secondary effect. It typically takes 15 to 30 units per side, and results build over six to eight weeks.
Does Daxxify work for excessive sweating?+
It can. Daxxify is FDA-approved for frown lines, and underarm sweating is an off-label use that we're happy to discuss. At your consultation we'll talk through dosing, what to expect and whether it's the right fit for you. Underarm treatment is offered at a flat fee, shown in the pricing above.
Safety
Is Daxxify safe?+
Daxxify is FDA-approved and was studied in the SAKURA phase 3 program of over 2,700 patients. The most common side effects are headache, temporary eyelid drooping and mild injection-site reactions, which are generally temporary. As with any botulinum toxin, please tell us about any neuromuscular condition before treatment.
Who should not have Daxxify?+
Daxxify isn't recommended if you're pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding; if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis or ALS; if there's an infection at the injection site; or if you have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or its components. We review all of this with you at your consultation.
